Green phone recycling.

How we refurbish mobile phones

Phone Recycle Bank are dedicated to making sure your old mobiles meets a greened future. With the typical phone contract lasting just 18 months and mobile manufacturers continually investing in new mobile technology we are increasingly upgrading our handset on a more regular basis.

What do we do with our old handsets?

When handsets arrive at our recycle centre they are separated into working and non working, they are then graded as to the level of repair they need. Typically handsets that are beyond repair are broken down for parts; these can then be reused for refurbishment of other handsets, any parts that are left over are recycled in line with European Legislation. Handsets which can be refurbished, and yes we do repair some non working handsets are passed to our team of specialist engineers.

Stages of the refurbishment process:

  1. 1. The engineers inspect the handset and diagnose both the physical and functional state of the handset.
  2. 2. The handsets are flashed with the latest software ready for reuse.
  3. 3. Any remaining data is removed from the handset
  4. 4. The cosmetics of the handset are then restored
  5. 5. Final inspection and full functionality testing
  6. 6. Your old handset is now as good as new and ready to be reused!
