Can anyone send handsets in?

As long as you are 18 years old and the handset is owned by you; anyone can use Phone Recycle Bank

What types of mobile phone can I send in?

You can send in any make or model of mobile phone, either working or non working. The better & newer the model, the more money you will receive.

What do I need to send with the handset?

You will definitely need to send the battery with the handset. As for the mains charger, headset and other accessories – it's up to you; this will not increase the value of your trade, but they will be recycled in line with EU standards. Please be sure to save and remove any data or photos you wish to keep and remove your SIM Card before sending your old mobile phone to us. Any personal details sent to us by mistake will be destroyed immediately and therefore can not be returned.

What do I do if I cannot see my handset listed?

We have over 700 handsets listed on our website, but if you cannot find your exact model, click on the 'Contact Us' link & a member of our customer services team will advise you of its value as soon as possible.

Can companies, organisations and charities use this service?

Yes. All companies, organisations or charities are welcome to use our online recycle service. Should you have problems with finding the value of all your handouts or have considerably more than 10 handsets please feel free to call us on:

Sending your handset

Is there a limit on the number of handsets that I can send in?

No, you can send in as many handsets as you like. The more handsets you submit; the more money you receive.

I have 10 or more phones to trade; how do I arrange free courier collection?

If you have 10 or more phones, please contact us on 0800 0151567 to arrange a free courier. Please advise us of the following details; - Contact Name and Number - Collection Address - How many handsets? - Any specific collection details? - A preference on day and time. (The options are between Monday & Friday 9.00am and 5.30pm.) Alternatively contact us via email at:

Do I need to pay for postage to send my handset in?

No, we will provide you with a FREEPOST bag to use; alternatively you can put the handset in your own jiffy bag and post to:

We do recommend people send their phones recorded delivery. Unfortunately we cannot pay additional recorded delivery charges for you. To send your parcel recorded you will need our full address as detailed above.

How long do I get to send my handset in?

Your 'Order' (that's the amount that we will pay you) is valid for 14 days. This will provide you with sufficient time to get the handset to us

What should I do if I haven't sent the handset in after 14 days?

Unfortunately we are unable to uphold the original price quoted for your handset. You can request a revised quote by calling or emailing us, or alternatively enter your handset details again on our site.

What should I do if I forget to include the tear off slip in the recycle bag?

This is not a problem, for a new quotation simply email info@phonerecyclebank.com and provide the following information:

1. Your name

2. Your current address

3. Your order number and date the order was placed

What should I do if I don't receive my FREEPOST recycle bag?

You should receive your FREEPOST bag within 3-4 working days. However if you do not receive your FREEPOST recycle bag please contact us at info@phonerecyclebank.com and include the following information:

1. Your name

2. Your current address

3. Your order number and date the order was placed

Payment

How and when do I get paid?

On confirming receipt of your handset at our recycle center we endeavor to process your payment, and send you a cheque to the address provided by you on your order, within 4 working days.

What happens if my handset is physically damaged or liquid damaged?

To qualify for 100% of the payment, your handset must be functioning and un-damaged. We will accept damaged / non-working handsets, but you are likely to receive a significantly lower price than that quoted – please refer to our Terms & Conditions of Supply for further details. Unfortunately Phone Recycle Bank can not be held responsible for damage caused in transit.

What happens if the handset is barred or registered as stolen?

All handsets received are checked against a nationwide database to ensure that they are not registered as stolen. Any handset received as such will be retained and handed to the Police.

What if the handset does not meet your Terms and Conditions on faulty phones?

If the phone does not meet our Terms and Conditions we will contact you by email with a revised offer that you can either accept or reject. If you reject the offer we will return the handset as quickly as possible to you on payment of an administration and postage charge of £5. If your handset is rejected you will initially be contacted by email. If we do not hear from you within 14 days of notification that your phone has failed we will automatically accept it and issue any revised payment. Phones which are traded that obviously do not meet the Terms and Conditions (Severe damage) will only be returned on payment of an administration and postage charge of £5. If payment of the administration & delivery charge is not made within 45 days of notification, the phone will automatically be recycled in an environmentally friendly way.

What happens to my mobile phones?

Here at Phone Recycle Bank we are proud of the fact that not only do we recycle 100% of handsets in line with EU standards 85% of handsets are refurbished by our team of engineers so they can be re-used either here in the UK or in developing countries. Second hand mobile phones are an affordable and sustainable means of communication that help businesses to run more efficiently and families to stay in touch more easily.

What is an IMEI number?

The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number is a serial number unique to each and every mobile phone. The IMEI is usually printed on the compliance plate under the battery (15 digit number). Alternatively you can enter * # 0 6 # on the keypad & it will display its IMEI number on the screen for you. The IMEI number has to be entered onto the website at the point of trade so that we can track the handset through our business.

What should I do if I have included the incorrect IMEI number?

This is not a problem simply drop us an email at info@phonerecyclebank.com and provide us with the following information:

1. Your full name

2. Handset make and model

3. Date order was placed

4. Revised IMEI - Found by entering *#06# on your phones display (Where you dial numbers)

What should I do if I do not receive a confirmation of receipt from Phone Recycle Bank?
